PReS-FINAL-2103: Real life management of VZV infection or reactivation in rheumatic children on biologics: the French experience
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction Treatments of severe rheumatic conditions in children are increasingly based on biologics. The most common adverse events on all kind of biologics are mild infections in ENT, pulmonary and urinary systems. The number of cases of varicella-zoster-virus (VZV) manifestations while being on biologics is constantly growing. No consensus exists about what to do when facing this situation yet.

Seroprevalence of Varicella-Zoster Virus in Children from Shiraz-Iran
Background: Varicella–zoster virus (VZV) causes herpes zoster and varicella (Chicken-pox), usually a mild disease which is diagnosed clinically with few complications. However, in neonates and healthy adults it can have a severe presentation. Herpes zoster results from VZV reactivation later in life. Objective: To determine the seroprevalence of VZV in elementary school children aged 6-10 years...

Results Ten 3 to 16-year-old children were included for VZV (n = 8), CMV (n = 2) or EBV (n = 1) primoinfection while on etanercept (n = 1), adalimumab (n = 2), anakinra (n = 2) or canakinumab (n = 6). Seven patients had concomitant non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) treatment, 7 low dose predniso(lo)ne and 4 methotrexate. The 8 patients with VZV infection developed typical skin disease and...

Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV) causes two distinct clinical entities, varicella that is an acute and generally benign illness in children resulting from primary infection with VZV, and zoster which results from reactivation of latent VZV and usually occurs in adults. Zoster is uncommon before 10 years of age. Occurrence of herpes zoster during varicella infection is exceptional. Here, I report ...
متن کاملPres-FINAL-2009: Pediatric rheumatology practitioners experience with biologics in juvenile dermatomyositis: survey results
Introduction Biologic therapy is increasingly prescribed in rheumatologic disorders. Juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM), the most common inflammatory myopathy in children, can be challenging to manage in a subset of patients. There are multiple reports of cytokine involvement in JDM. There is a paucity of information regarding the use of biologics for JDM among pediatric rheumatology practitioners,...
متن کاملVaricella-zoster virus reactivation is an important cause of acute peripheral facial paralysis in children.
BACKGROUND Reactivation of herpes simplex virus type 1 is thought to be a major cause of adult idiopathic peripheral facial paralysis or Bell's palsy. However, few studies have examined the pathogenesis of this condition in children. Serologic assays and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analysis of paired sera and saliva samples were used here to investigate the causes of acute peripheral facial...
